    Quick : You can use the "InspectorName" Attribute to change how an enum displays as inside the inspector! (2019.2+) By default, Unity removes "_" from enum names (presumably so "_1" displays as "1"). In my case this caused conflicts, so I had to fix it using this. 😀

    This is a much better take on AR hardware and the timetables for it. It’s easy to get over optimistic about cool new tech and fail to realize how many challenges there are going from a “cool tech demo” to a consumer product. AR devices will happen, but not for another 2-3 years.

    Getting more comfortable with my evening project. Windows are lit, basic street texture in, backgrounds. Need snow falling over all surfaces and a wrap around cover for a 180 skybox. So fun!

    I’ve been hearing reports of improved hand tracking stability with the Quest V13 update too! So far, the only prediction missed was the Quest software sales report from Facebook’s Q4 update. I’ve got a follow up post that’s been in the works coming soon!

    If anyone is listening: set the little circles that appear on notes to only start appearing when you can actually shoot the target. This *should* fix the majority of shooting issues for the game since it’ll indicate to players when they are in the shot’s timing window.

    I called this automatic switching by February in my 2020 VR/AR predictions post on Medium! A bit sooner than middle of the month, but I’m sure more updates will come. I’m curious if there’s been any improvements to pose estimation with this as well however.

    This demo scene for setting up a project without legacy code has exactly two files in it! I'm happy with how lightweight this has become! Additionally: This is also compatible with all of Unity's stuff too! This means support for Hololens and Magic Leap One too!

    I stand corrected, this is for an AR/VR hybrid device, which makes more sense, though seems like a very niche market.

    I do not understand why businesses would ever go with a device like this. Again, it seems like such an odd thing to do. High costs from an unproven company for an unproven headset or the Quest? Seems like an obvious choice to me.

    Seriously, I wonder what exactly Valve is cooking up. This is utterly bizarre to me, and I really just have no idea why they're late to the game with this. Anyways, here's what the final product of the tutorial looks like on the . Barebones, but super cross-platform!

    The most fascinating thing about writing this tutorial for how to setup a project in WITHOUT any legacy code going forward is the sheer lack of support for SteamVR. Even the official documentation doesn't list it anywhere:

    Working on getting a tutorial for setting up a project in 2019.3 without relying on any of the legacy systems. It seems like there is very little documentation on this, which makes me think we're gonna see even more revamps going forward o.O
