New Census data show a broad population decline across America’s rural counties. One upshot is we’ll see how much harder it is to gerrymander Democrats living in cities out of seats they otherwise deserve. Downside is rural over-representation (esp in the Senate) is getting worsepic.twitter.com/8jzewvZUdK

I mean, I believe representatives should be assigned more proportionally by population than they currently are. But before you even get there the fact is that, in part bc of voter geography, redistricting, & gerrymandering have deprived Ds of their due representation for decades.https://twitter.com/Ironbrand2/status/1425881552391708674 …

Hello Mr. Morris. As an objective journalist, what qualifies you to recognize what urban Democrats "deserve", or to determine what degree of rural representation is excessive, and why is that worse than under-representation? You know, the facts.

Overall this seems good for Dems right? At least better than expected a few months ago.

One possible interpretation: rural conservatives are self-sorting to Florida.

The US government design is a old flawed operating system and we've seemed to have lost the ability to patch it. Last update was 30 years ago and that was just a minor patch.

If Senate representation is per the US Constitution, how is it worse?

When the Constitution was written there were 13 states, closer in population disparities, with people who shared cultural standards more and performed similar, more related work. If we rolled back up to 13 entities, allocated more proportionately, we’d be good

This is why I find it hilarious how certain people keep saying people are leaving liberal California for conservative and business friendly texas when in reality they’re going for lower housing and into liberal cities. They want most of the California politics but for less $$$
