    Never feel sorry for Theresa May. She: - was most draconian Home Secretary for years, obsessed with a stupid arbitrary immigration number - called an unnecessary election that led to her having to rely on the awful DUP thereby making the Irish border issue basically insoluble

    This is mad. It’s a total failure to recognise the reality of our position. The government has been talking to itself for two years, ignoring the inherent contradictions of Brexit. Now - when confronted with reality - the PM is asking the EU to sort the mess for us.

    Acting tough is really all she can do, isn't it? As Home Secretary, and now as prime minister of a zombie government. Blaming the EU for this mess (as the coalition did with "the last Labour Government") won't actually work for very long after a disorderly exit.

    Where constituency boundaries are drawn in First Past the Post changes the results of elections. Gerrymandering is just taking advantage of the unfairness of first past the post to get a specific result.

    If yesterday's Alabama Senate race had been a House election, the Republicans, who got *fewer* votes, would have won 6 out of 7 seats, and the Democrats, who *won* the vote statewide, only 1 out of 7. That's how gerrymandered Alabama is.
