A few months back, during the arduous process of moving house, I found my 2001 diary. It was the year of my GCSE exams, of turning sixteen, and the last time I fully committed to keeping a diary, before the distractions of higher education, failed relationships and social media.pic.twitter.com/UeTN6CVSLI

Now I know what you're thinking: "God, what sort of nerd covers his diary with printouts of Doctor Who video covers and utterly random screenshots from 1960s episodes?" Well, the sort of nerd that used to cut out and keep the ratings from his parent's TV guide. It gets worse.pic.twitter.com/SgYcUrQMud

So I thought, 20 years on, why not share it with my Twitter family throughout 2021? I won't cover every day - some were way too dull to merit a tweet - but hopefully you'll find some of it interesting and even amusing. And hopefully you won't lose (even more) respect for me.

MON 1 JAN 2001: "Happy New Year! Woke up at 12.30pm. Watched three episodes of Blackadder II on DVD then listened to Dr Who: The Ice Warriors ep 3. Curry and chips for tea. Watching The Top 100 TV Moments From Hell (repeat)." Richard Madeley (no relation) doing Ali G was No. 1.pic.twitter.com/3ilgyNGBI6

I also decided during this year, in my infinite saddishness, to mark each day with the anniversary of a #DoctorWho episode, so I can reveal to you today that 20 years ago today was the 35th anniversary of "Volcano", the eighth episode of "The Daleks' Masterplan" (sic). Oh dear.

TUES 2 JAN 2001: "Woke up 11am. Watched The Five Doctors and the rest of Blackadder II on DVD." I'd bought my very first DVD player, the Oritron DVD600, from Currys a few days earlier with Christmas money, and had rented those discs specially from the library. I was so excited.pic.twitter.com/NInmlWky1X
