tbf, $40 is a lot less than you'd spend to take a family to the movies. But the perceived value (and actual value) is way different when it's at home

Oh I agree, and I think the ramifications of it are worrying for an entire industry; I do however think that a lot of families will be like "yeah whatever," which Disney is clearly banking on

Family pricing like that is fair enough. I have no trouble with that, and I think that's perfectly in keeping with what they should do. What interests me is that for the single viewer, there is no option to pay any other price point than that.
