Last night's Doctor Who - Nikola Tesla's Night of Terror had overnight audience of 4.04m, continuing downward trend of overnights. We'll get Episode 3 consolidated figs at lunchtime so we'll have better idea of how far the dropping overnights are being compensated for by catch-uppic.twitter.com/rR25d1J6KR

Is the feeling Lizo that overnights are losing relevance in the TV viewing world? (Not specifically talking Who, just more in general)

I think its the opposite Darren, the catch-up figures are a total blag and ONLY the broadcast overnights are giving an accurate representation of the audiences response to the product. Perhaps Lizo can give us assurance as to catch-up credibility?

It's all an interesting mix - whether catch up is full streams, or started but aborted streams, never quite sure; but it is expressions of interest. And if only 5million are watching TV at night, 4.04 million is good.

Well heres two things: I player currently has EVERY episode of New Who since series 1 up to watch, it looks like they are counting views for "Doctor Who" as a whole not current episode, + it doesnt seem credible the BBC really has the ability to collect numbers from all outlets

I've worked within streaming teams, and you have the ability to track singular episodes via suites like Omniture to give you an overview. I would imagine BBC uses something like this, - and that's done at a granular episodic level
