My Crackdown 3 review is now up at @gotogame. Whilst hard to recommend as a stand alone purchase, it is a welcome addition to the Xbox Game Pass system, which is a ludicrous value for money.

I found this review quite hard to write, as whilst I was having fun, it felt incredibly basic and dated in comparison to current open world action adventure games. Also, I've known of this title since 2014! The wait may have inflated hype and expectations.

It's like Far Cry New Dawn; does little new with the genre, but seems to let you have fun doing it. It's just whether lack of challenge and new ideas is what gamers should get these days; like Just Cause 4, I'm happy to put brain on repeat, but it's not always the best thing to do

Yeah that's a fair comparison. The kill for skills feels dated. I was expecting a Spiderman-esque unlock system and was suprised to find it so linear in comparison. I understand it's a 'shut up and destroy everything' style of game, but a bit more depth would have been nice.

I can see myself coming back to it whenever I want a mindless 'fly around like superman rocking a bazooka' experience though.
