I don't know if the Mediaarts database would list a bootleg as developer. It says Taito as publisher on the same page.

The mediaarts database is not a definitive work and it takes it's sourcing from a few well known, but not always accurate, sources in Japanese.

Yes, but for other Sun Electronics games it had them listed as either developer or publisher. I think the Japanese Wikipedia page for Phoenix says the game was developed by Amstar and published by Centuri and then licensed to Taito in Japan.

Really there's just too much info out there about this and none of it is verified. We need an actual person or a document that will give it proper credit. Looking online will do us no good.

The info online can only help provide possible leads. A lot of people point to Amstar being located in Phoenix, AZ for the games name but forget that the phoenix is popular in Japanese folklore.

Interesting. This is not listed in Akagi's Arcade TV Game List.

Export version of Phoenix! I have not seen it in Japan. Pleiads was made by Tehkan and It's very similar to Phoenix.I think small Japanese developer made it and joined with Tehkan. http://www.centuri.net/interview2.htm
