Yoshikawa was director on Athena's Sword Master (FC/NES), which came out four months after XDR, so I don't know if he was working freelance.

I was initially going to mention it in the article, since there's definitely some sort of connection. What gave me pause is how few staff are ultimately shared between them (grand total of two, I think?), and Varie's not really having much of a presence pre-1990.

Obviously, the UPC prefix does indicate some sort of linkage there; but I just couldn't figure out well enough to what extent it may have been, or find anything in text to corroborate UNIPACC as a spun-off venture. The key might come from identifying further XDR dev aliases.
