I thought Asuka Technologies became Atlus Software because they were located at the same address, but they're two separate legal entities.
Atlus Co., Ltd. Japan registered in California as a "foreign stock corporation." There are some Japanese documents attached with an English translation. Says it was established on January 8, 1971.
On the Japanese document, there's a space for "trade name" with the name Kyoto Computer Utility (株式会社京都コンピューターユーティリティ) crossed out.
According to this old Atlus history page, Atlus merged with Kyoto Computer Utility (surviving company) in April 1992. So 1971 may be when Kyoto Computer Utility was started. http://www2.famille.ne.jp/~tokiyama/VBS/lib_fr/atlus/atls_hst.html …
"1987 In the first year, I feel the business failed. The software development did not progress as expected and the credit of the banks was not obtained. In order to secure fixed income, the company will have a “sales department” that handles products from other companies."
Ooh I'll have to learn how to access those
In PlayStation anthology they did an interview with Hideyuki Yokoyama it made it seem like he was the founder of Atlus, unless Harano was one of the other founders?
I would say Yokoyama was a founding member.
