I seem to recall this being the case at places like EB/Software Etc but you could find it at Best Buy cheaper usually PSIV was like 90 bucks By the end of the SNES lifespan when most games were 24-32 meg 60-80 dollar carts were common

I think PS4 and Virtua Racing were both $100 when they came out.

That sound about right. Regular games were around the $60 mark bigger memory carts or those with battery back up saves were between $70-80 on average.

$80 MSRP wouldn't surprise me. Standard practice back then was to price RPGs (and RPG-like games) high in both Japan and US due to perceived value - you get more playtime out of an RPG.
