    The main lesson is that top-down policy support can become a double-edged sword in processes of market formation when it directly supports the dominant market logic, it reinforces hierarchical relations and it promotes an overly optimistic rhetoric

    I found that policy support stimulated the market by clarifying meanings, building infrastructure and endorsing new practices, but also had the unintended consequence of increasing contestation by setting too-high expectations, reducing flexibility and neglecting relevant actors

    The initial ambiguity and contestation in the field surfaced as important. Here I highlight the specific role of policy support, which was substantial through different initiatives such as , funding for , the tax relief, convening, etc.

    It comes from my dissertation at I studied the evolution of the social investment market in the UK 2000-2015, talking to fund managers, social entrepreneurs, government, and also attending industry meetings and coding industry reports

    These data are painful to read, even more at this time of the year when we reflect, make balance, and set new goals for the new year... let one of these goals be to build a more welcoming society, open to those who struggle and who want a chance for a better life
