Good news but still too late in the game.
If @BikeabilityUK L3 was required before applying for a driving licence, motorists would already know how nasty a close pass feels.
Start by requiring driving instructors to pass BikeAbility before they renew their teaching qual.

Absolutely agree. Well proven that people who cycle are better drivers and learning to use roads from outside the box at a speed humans can process is beneficial. A relatively quick easy win as well

Note, there is no talk about any extra resources for the police to carry out Op Close Pass, just a few TV ads to tell the boy races how effective close passes are at scaring people...

For this campaign to be meaningful in terms of cyclists' safety, motorists will need to be penalised, not just reprimanded. Only with an effective deterrent, will any progress be realised.

There seems to be no interest in actually enforcing/acting here (Edinburgh) that I wonder if this will be effective at all. Could've done with some enforcement this morning, there's something about being just after a holiday that really brings out the worst.

same as the 20mph limits. Rarely enforced, TV adverts don’t save cyclists.
