This podcast was so inspiring - Salopek is walking the earth (a 15 year project)! Fascinating to hear details of his walk and observations…

’s Emergent Ventures fellowships is a version of this approach, placing a large # of bets on "new ideas and projects that are too difficult, too hard to measure, too unusual, too foreign, too small"... more efforts should look like this

"formalese" will be one of GPT's first casualties - "wow, that email is so formal that GPT could have written it"

We’ll come full hilarious circle when people use LLMs both to 1) expand a simple message like “execute faster” into email and 2) summarize an email back into the original simple message. It’s like compression/decompression into formalese twitter.com/levie/status/1…

one of the more interesting things about the response to ChatGPT is that much of this existed in prior GPT-3 only the UX wasn't as conducive to exploration... similar to Midjourney, interesting that UX modifications lead to different "relationships" with the underlying AI

Here's my conversation with Andrej Karpathy (@karpathy), a legendary AI researcher, engineer, and educator, and former director of AI at Tesla. This chat was super fun, technical, and inspiring. youtube.com/watch?v=cdiD-9

I knew NEPA was a mess but reading in plain language the detailed bureaucratic burdens it imposes is bananas…

If you've ever wondered how NEPA works, this is your lucky day. A new long post from yours truly explaining why NEPA is the way it is and how we got here. thecgo.org/benchmark/much

MJ's drive and focus just blows my mind - I've never seen someone want to win anything that bad in my entire life... "They say there's no I in 'team", but there's an 'I' in "win""

I wonder what FB's metaverse plans would look like if they'd bought Minecraft in 2014 instead of MSFT... deal would have gone through back then and they'd have a "working metaverse" with 100M MAU...
