Same question applies to the whole web! I still find it plausible that KYC/AML is the main obstacle to a trusted-third-party microtransactions solution.

DDG is fine but it still has ads. Also, I feel like there are some basic heuristics that can be overlaid on these SERPs to remove most of the junk. Maybe the problem is harder than it looks.

It’s very expensive to run a general purpose search engine for the whole web. Would be tough to make the math work on the business I think I do think there’s opportunity in domain-specific search engines that people pay for though

Yes, kind of surprised there isn't more. The legal search engines are an obvious example -- great business

Because the more you’d be willing to spend for such a service, the more valuable your attention is for advertisers to buy. Also search is all about data, and gating searches by a paywall will make it really hard to accrue enough (esp at start)

I wouldn't sell it to advertisers. You mean SEO will try harder to game it? I think there is a category of search used for deeper research that can be significantly improved upon without lots of data... maybe I'm naive
