If you want the best product, your engineers should do the customer support. Then they will have perfect context and proper empathy for users.

as a Bay Area transplant now living in Portland, I also wonder about the argument for just having multiple small offices around the country if you want to get some of the benefits of the office environment or at least have it as an option for high bandwidth collaboration.
