Trying to figure out why I would want to use crypto for everyday purchases when my credit card rewards me and crypto has no customer service for my inevitable stupidity that happens at least once a year

@garrytan@ricburton thanks for catalysing this flow of thought! Trying to dig deeper since I doubt decentralisation and being a public protocol in itself, is what brings the value to the users – in fact, just a vanilla public protocol might mean decreased user privacy. -
Some ideas for where the real user value might be: (1) interoperability & user control over authorising access to the data like a data trust (2) more dynamic requests for user consent over micro-uses of the data by 3rd parties (3) privacy-preserving protocol implementation

It’s getting easier and easier to game existing trust networks. They will eventually lose the battle. A decentralized and distributed public ledger, with digital signatures and accountability, is the only viable way I see of fixing this.
