Currently, public sub counts are abbreviated in most but not all places across YouTube. In August, we’ll make this more consistent by always showing abbreviated sub counts publicly. I understand you want consistency throughout the YouTube website and app, and I agree. The problem lies where the majority of the users of YouTube, the viewers, would rather see a precise number of what the subscriber count is. (1/?)

Many creators sometimes do "subscriber count livestreams, where they comment on live the exact growing number of their YouTube channel, on sites like
@SocialBlade. And for viewers it can be interesting to use those sites to see how rapidly their favorite channel is growing. (2/?)1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -
So I propose this: the rounded subscriber counts you're talking about are turned on by default, but there's an option in the YouTube settings to revert it to the way it was before. (3/4)

This way, the people who don't care to see the exact number of subscribers don't have to, and they get a consistent look on the YouTube sub counts, while the people who do can revert it and see a precise number. And services like SocialBlade wouldn't become redundant. (4/4)
