Exactly what I hoped not to see at this site. Just as a tiny amount of green grass is emerging for native animals it's being mown off by who survived Trapping isn't viable in most of these locations so they get a free pass out-competing the 'good guys'.

Prof Jamie Pittock has just returned from Kosciuszko National Park. He was shocked, and angry, to see so many feral horses trampling the habitat of threatened native species, including the iconic corroboree frog.

It's wiped out millions of bats in North America and if it reaches Oz white-nose syndrome will threaten our cave-dwelling bats. What should we do? Plan and act now, assuming the worst-case scenario. Alarm bells are ringing.

We helped get Prof Jamie Pittock into the air over Kosciuszko National Park last week. Seeing feral horses standing in a key wetland for our endangered northern corroboree frog left him deeply distressed.

Happy and sad news from Kosciuszko. The sad news is that we lost some critically endangered southern corroboree frogs to bushfire. But, there are survivors, and work will now start on shoring up their defences! Photos courtesy the Department of Planning Industry and Environment.
