i will never understand the luke-warm reception to Transatlantic. I don't! It really hit me in a great part of my brain.

I ignored the early negative press and traded for an in-shrink copy that someone didn't even want to gamble on. It's high on my list of next things to get to the table. I love Mac Gerdts' games.

I have no clue. people with similar tastes to me have just not clicked with it. I've played it 6 or so times and would pretty much play it any time still

It is okay. Rules not the clearest. Odd end game. Overlong. Even the Gerdts fans here think it not one of his best.

that's what strange to me. the rules are simple and the game is only an hour. i feel like I'm playing a different game?

It picks up speed but most haven't bothered. We were coming in at 90 mins plus.

I don't get it either. It has some production issues (rulebook, colors, symbols) but I really enjoy the gameplay! The card mechanics are solid, the prices have a nice curve tht pushes you forward and investing on the ships is exciting.

I think the opposite of exciting... pedestrian and repetitive. I found it interesting to see real ship names.
