Illustrations for Stockpile and CrossTalk by @LogicFairy, Illustration for The Reckoners by Miguel Coimbra, Illustration for A Study in Emerald by Tatiana Kuzilova.
The illustration for Hand of Fate is a collaboration between @glad_lad and I. Original CO2 cover by Paula Simonetti and Giacomo Tappainer.
And this is just the stuff I had a 3d file handy for, there's a bunch more, including these two illustrations (Trick of the Rails and Railways of Portugal), which are some of my favourites.pic.twitter.com/XxTHfjZCLd
I'd love to see your take on the art an 18xx game
Me too, but the hardcore players get angry when they look nice.
I can see where they are coming from as the tiles aren't that big and can contain a ton of information (just look at this NY tile) and it still needs to be readable. But if you look at the upcoming 1836jr project by @RailsOnBoards then there's plenty of room for cool artpic.twitter.com/JK9r7W4A2Q
Box art, train cards, shares, company charters all have plenty of room for some cool art without hurting the game
As someone who's not into the genre, their visuals often look very dry and austere and there's a risk of scaring new players away. The first one that seemed pleasing and approachable was Carthaginian's redesign of 1889.pic.twitter.com/r4kUI9ae4w
Agreed on all of that. There's a new version of 1889 coming via kickstarter (this year?) so maybe this will be the map they'll use? @grandtrunkgames does seem to be open to try new things with the genre
I hope so!
The reprint will be kind of a blend of the redraw and new styles. I think it looks pretty good but we'll see what the people say once the art is released!
