I'm not familiar with Mass Effect, but I'd love to see something like this happen - a established wargame system like COIN being ported across to a sci-fi IP like Mass Effect. There was a COIN like Robotech game released this year, unavailable in Europe.https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2703387/mass-effect-coin …

Yes, please. I know how real war settings were important to the start of the genre, but I have no interest in them. So anything else sounds pretty good.

I dabbled in wargames for a while, but eventually went off them. I do think there's some interesting mechanical ideas and concepts in the genre, but I'm not really interested in the subject matter anymore.

That's the main thing for me. I play for escapism. I don't want to be put in a situation where I root for a real country/group and hope the others lose. There's too much of that already.

Absolutely. As an aside, I'd love to play a Star Wars Clone Wars game that uses chits and counters like wargames do. The Legion game from FFG looks great, but it's so expensive.pic.twitter.com/wToewS5nDK

That's an interesting take on it. I think there would be a target for it, but the tons of people who but any Star Wars thing to have as a toy would be left wanting. Still, they have made a Star Wars TTRPG without minis, so there might be a chance!

I think I'd probably be in the minority in wanting that kind of game. Though interestingly, they did exist in the late 80s. Games Workshop also published some Warhammer 40k chit wargames in the early 90s. https://crypticarchivist.blogspot.com/2020/09/three-new-english-rule-translations-for.html?m=1 …

I'm so far removed from that side of the hobby, I have no idea! WH40K also makes a lot of sense in chits, especially if it's simulating situations of a different scale.
