Definitely a more concentrated experience. I want to play the game itself, so I understand it more, but not all in, for now.

The box sets (I see you’re considering Kill Team) are kinda sorta almost watered-down versions of the full game? That makes them sound weak and they’re not. They’re just different. You’d have to learn totally different rules to play the full game. But the feel is similar-ish.

That's helpful, I will make sure not to compare the two too heavily. Does it give a good introduction to the experience of the game? If Warhammer that but dialed to 11?

If you wanted to just jump in, the 'Start Collecting boxes are great. They are fun to build, paint and give you enough to play a game to get a feel. Aim for a 500pt list and you would be good to start. And if you don't like the certain army gameplay, the hobbying is still fun.

Yeah, those are great sets! There are other miniature systems that are fun, too. WH just tends to be the best supported with a large community to play against.

I've got some good miniature gaming buddies up in the NorCal area Monique. I'm sure we could connect you with some groups.

Not to stop you from feeding the Games Workshop Machine, but I also like War Machine / Hordes from Privateer Press and Malifaux from Wyrd Games. Also, there are some super fun minis-agnostic system like Gaslands that I adore. If you want a slightly more accessible experience, 1/

+1 for Gaslands! Miniature games can be overwhelming in terms of price and amount of stuff you have to buy but you might already have all the stuff you need for this one in the house.

Thank you! The cost really is a lot!

Also, most of them require you to assemble the miniatures before playing, which is can be a big obstacle. Gaslands uses toy cars!
