The others may catch my eye but gameplay is ultimately what seals the deal.

I think it is! I'm probably not the best person to be answering because I'm a game designer so naturally I'd be biased towards gameplay.

I was surprised to see "Publisher" on the list, though. It's the least important factor in the formula for me. I don't think there is a publisher who perfectly aligns with my tastes. If it is known for bad production it's more likely to scare me away.

I was curious cause I saw some people really talk about this being critical for them!

Since I started publishing this has become much more important to me. There are publishers, especially indie ones, who's games I will buy even if their product doesn't perfectly align with my taste. Contrarily, there are some bad rep publishers that I refuse to give my money to.

Agree 10,000%. As crazy as this sounds, there are "legit" pirate publishers that will sell blatant pirated versions of games. I would never buy them even though I'm getting great gameplay (of someone else's game) at a discount.

I did back some games of publishers I wanted to support, but if I'm not interested in the game then I'm left with games I need to get rid of.
