What’s most important when you consider a new game purchase?

I was surprised to see "Publisher" on the list, though. It's the least important factor in the formula for me. I don't think there is a publisher who perfectly aligns with my tastes. If it is known for bad production it's more likely to scare me away.

I was curious cause I saw some people really talk about this being critical for them!

I think it's natural to be "biased" towards gameplay in games just like it's natural to be biased towards food with good taste!

Me too but there's plenty of cases where people buy games just because they're pretty, have minis or have a theme/IP they like, without plans of ever playing it. If the game is good, that's a bonus.

I think the problem is that there is a difference between what makes you interested in a game and what makes you actually buy it. And a good publisher/designer helps built trust that the alledged gameplay actually delivers.

Yes! There's a ton of games I'm interested in, but not too many I'll realistically be able to play or fit on my shelf. I find it easier to know what to expect from a designer than a publisher, though, so they matter more to me.
