Kickstarter with some kind of delivery issues that people are rating low as a result? Or maybe a very popular game where people rate low pre-release to "balance" the folks who rate it highly pre-release?

Possibly all of those! It's Mega Man: The Board Game, so there's a nostalgia factor as well.

Played it (KS version) once at 2p. Gorgeous production. Game was REAAALLLY long, rules were a mess, and game play was…okay. Felt like it could have used more playtesting.

From what I hear it looks like they had the resources, just not the design expertise. Does it really take four hours? :O

At 2p, with reading the rules cold, it took us about 3-4 hours.

I'd be curious how you feel, despite those obstacles. Did it feel like it captured the spirit of Megaman once you got into the swing of things?

Kinda. But…I kind of expect more deterministic strategy with Megaman. Learning patterns and behaviors, and how to overcome them. There was more randomness (which I totally enjoy, in the right game, for the record) than I imagined.

That's a pity. If it really evoked the spirit of MegaMan in the end, it could be worth the effort for fans.

It may be worth it as a collectible thing, as the figure are incredible.

In some cases, like Dark Souls, dedicated fans/players end up coming with custom rulesets that get closer what they expected!
