While I agree I think those scenes are coming from a place of truth. That's how a lot of non gamers are given rules and introduced to more complex games, and the show isn't trying to make board games accessible, it's trying to make a joke based somewhat on reality.
There are people like that for sure, but for a show with such big reach, it ends up giving a lot of people a negative first impression and further ammo to make fun of those who play boardgames.

Its still a nerdy niche, it's going to get the butt end of jokes for a long time. Video games are waaaaay more established and are still used as nerd shorthand in a lot of media. While I don't disagree I do think they walked a bit of a middle line in trying to be "realer"

It's a tricky balance! I'm happy to see boardgames appearing in popular media, but I rarely see them portrayed in a positive light. If it's to be the butt end of jokes I'd prefer they leave them alone.
