Yakuza Zero is such a strange experience. At 11+ hours in, I feel like the game mechanisms are more akin to running errands for people in Animal Crossing. Tonally it is dark, somewhat problematic, silly. The combat turns from button mash to precision required on a dime.
They're the main thing that keeps me going. I never know who I'm going to come across but it makes it feel like everyone is worth helping, which is a welcome moral I did not expect from this setting.

I’ve helped a statue, multiple couples, I helped a guy cross a bridge in his jacket because he kept getting beat up, saved a girl from a cult. It is so wildly varied and bizarre. Helped a dad in disguise hang with his child.

Done all of those, so good. :D I think when I got to training a dominatrix I finally realized what kind of game this is!
