Yakuza Zero is such a strange experience. At 11+ hours in, I feel like the game mechanisms are more akin to running errands for people in Animal Crossing. Tonally it is dark, somewhat problematic, silly. The combat turns from button mash to precision required on a dime.
Agreed! By far my favorite part is the side quests. They're silly, funny and tell me a bit about Japan in the 80's. The localization is very well done. It feels a bit like tourism, which is very welcome after a year in lockdown. I'd love to explore other countries like this.

They're the main thing that keeps me going. I never know who I'm going to come across but it makes it feel like everyone is worth helping, which is a welcome moral I did not expect from this setting.
