I find it interesting to think about a game concept that takes the premise of #Pokémon (you battle, collect and evolve different monsters) and combines it with a way less linear gameplay and world. What systems would need to change to keep it fun?

Yes! I'm also thinking about level scaling systems a lot. A true open world would let you go anywhere (unlike the
#Pokémon games, which gate your way until you beat the current gym). I currently think that battles could probably be way more optional as well. -
It would also allow you to avoid competing directly with Pokémon, so win/win!
