Finished Halflife - Alyx today. It's good, and it's nice to play a game that "ends". I had too many clever card/rogue-like/survival games in the last year. Plus endless lockdown. So yeah, things with an end, a plot, structure, a point - those get extra appreciation right now.

The headsets still have a long way to go though. Even having developed VR sea legs and a double size neck, it's a commitment to give them more than 40 mins.

I was very impressed by Half-Life: Alyx. Lots of clever solutions to design problems I had to face at Resolution and one of the few VR games that felt like a whole game rather than a tech demo.

Yeah, I've been playing it very slowly - so it has felt like a very full game to me. I get now that it was a test in some sense, using existing gameplay converted to VR - but it's very solid in that sense.

I hope the inspiration for others isn't to solve it the Alyx way necessarily - but just to take confidence that there are other things to do, and other ways to do them in that VR medium. (Do janky things too, do weirdly textured design, enjoy the space etc)

Me too! Though I would welcome magnetic gloves in any games that involve picking things up, since they are easier to drop than to hold. :)
