I hear about it frequently from Americans but have yet to see a copy in person. It was (is?) not a thing in Portugal.

I don't think it's a thing in Europe - I have never seen a copy either, and I've seen folk from the UK say the same.

Not to say that the UK and Ireland are the extent of Europe, but as majority English speaking countries, and sharing many cultural connections with the US, like board games, it feels more likely that if Candyland were to appear on shelves in Europe it'd be here.

I think it’s interesting that it never took off in Europe. The language barrier shouldn’t really be an issue, there’s hardly any text in the game (if any). Maybe polio wards were different in Europe? Or maybe they found something else to fill time?
