I've gotten pretty lazy at this kind of stuff. I had it down pretty well a couple of years ago but the temptation to over explain mechanics is constant when you write a lot of reviews, and I've given in to it.

Understandable! In the before times I often had to introduce games to people who had never played before so I got very aware of the amount of jargon used in the hobby.

Also when writing rules, any game could be someone's first so you should not take shortcuts. Some genres (trick taking, 18XX) are notorious for this.
