Not sure it counts, but I bought the Twilight Struggle app to finally try it a few years ago and despite multiple attempts I still haven't made it to the end of the tutorial.

That makes perfect sense. I think both temporal and physical closeness make a difference to me. I tried playing Labyrinth War on Terror and didn't feel comfortable playing a game about a conflict that is still ongoing...

...but I also don't think I'd feel comfortable playing a game about British occupation of Ireland, even if it was a few hundred years ago.

I play games for escapism, so realism/history is not something that appeals to me at all. I wouldn't say I am opposed to them, but I'd rather play anything else.
