I've always wanted to know what the actual difference is between a programmer and a *senior* programmer * How many years you have *worked* as a programmer? * How *good* you are at programming (what determines how good is enough?) * How many projects you've shipped (how many?)
It's unfortunately so nebulous, I have the same questions for Game Designer vs Senior Game Designer. I've been in the same role for 10 years.

More often than not, I think the change happens when people change jobs and manage get into a position with a higher title. It's crossed my mind more than once.

Yeah. Hopefully reflected in the paycheck =). But I also think that titles are super important abroad (in the US for example), but much less important in Sweden.
