True, except if it's a discussion about harassement, than the comments are either "I think you're all jumping to conclusions", "tell me when the judgement and sentence is done" or the cherry on top a private message asking to delete the post for "the good of the community".

Enablers. It's what I said in the other reply about sheep and wolves. Those kinds of situations have to have consequences and made public, or else they'll happen again and again, driving people away every time. Even just having the topic visible with only those replies is bad.
