A lesson I have learnt in life is to never be afraid to walk out of a job that's become shit or is treating you like shit. My current job once sent (PO actually drove 100km) me home because I came in sick and didn't understand why I was very worried about this.

Previously, I'd worked at places (gamedev, startups, even somewhat in academia) where the peer pressure or culture was to come in regardless and extreme crunch was enforced on occasion.
