I played a "big" story moment at the near beginning of TLOU2 yesterday. My reaction was "Wow! Cool." It was a surprise, and legitimately made me excited for the narrative. A friend reminded me that this lead to gamers sending death threats to the writer and actor. Just sad.

It's not much different than people reacting to Star Wars, or harassing writers on Twitter. It's not like original works are removed from humanity when a sequel emerges.

I know this is all a fresh and new take for which you're all thankful.

I'm painting with the brush a hint broadly, but God of War 1-3 are basically the same story. Angry Kratos kills gods. They just tweak the reason he's mad and who he kills. God of War (the fourth)? Completely new story. And it's 13,000x better for taking the risk.

I thought I was done with the franchise and God of War (2018) was such a breath of fresh air.

I played one, liked it. I started two...don't know why I stopped. I'm not a huge action gamer so maybe that's why. Avoided 3. I watched a story recap just before and was amused how all 3 were so samey.

I borrowed them mostly to check the current state of big budget AAA. Never liked any of the characters and I think it went too far in places. 3 is so weird. Bombastic beginning and end, but in the middle there is a section where you're just fighting on top of boxes.pic.twitter.com/BJP0m3g5l7
