Hey game designer and publisher!! I'm working on my pitch for a game I've designed. Share your thoughts on things you consider best practices, essential, or major plusses when pitching. Also what things do you consider bad moves, deal-breakers, or just "not right" for pitching?

You may know these already but research the publishers before contacting them to make sure your game fits their lineup and target audience. If you don't, there's a chance it will be a waste of time for both of you!

Prepare a sell sheet for each game in a way that you can teach the game from it, and give it to them afterwards to help them remember it. I imagine this is still true for digital pitches.

Thanks Manuel! I didn't think about creating those situations to show off. Nice note!

You're welcome! I wrote a few articles after pitching games at Essen Spiel and some of the tips still apply to a digital format:https://gamesbymanuel.com/2015/10/29/designers-guide-to-essen-spiel-part-1/ …

Just read through your articles. Great stuff there! They also made me excited for the eventual return of in-person conventions.
