Old articles by Richard Garfield.
I particularly like the article about handicaps from Duelist 16. There is no shame in handicaps and it can facilitate more enjoyment.
What do you think? Are you happy to start with unequal footing?

This is a concept he put in practice with Keyforge, with the Chains mechanic. Oince the decks are randomized, this is an opportunity to even the playing field. More importantly, there is a game format where the best decks get Chains which stay with the deck in perpetuity!

There are also formats where players bid chains in order to be able to pick which deck they want to play as. I think it's a great idea which can "punish" decks to avoid a stale meta and for casual players who want to find a more balanced start for the decks they have.
