Looking for a traditional roguelike (turn based, procedurally generated map, permadeath) for the Switch, checked out 100+ suggestions, only 2 matched. I now understand why some people are very fussy about the term.
I'd be ok with a description like that but with roguelikes it doesn't seem to happen. They just get thrown in the same bag and that's where the confusion comes from.

I like that the roguelite distinction came about. Sort of the rest of the world can talk about the genre, and the fundamentalists can have their 'berlin interpretation holy text'. :)

I like it in theory but I think it came too late and it sounds too similar to inform anyone who's not already deep into it.
