When in the life of a design do you write a rulebook? Doesn’t have to be anything fancy with diagrams and good layout, just a document with rules. I do like an incomplete/general overview rulebook once I have a core I like.

Manuel Correia @gamesbymanuelGot a new concept for Fortune Tellers and started trying to visualize what it could look like during play. This is the first time a design began to sound so complex that I started writing the rules right away. I'll let you know how it pans out. pic.twitter.com/7wGlf9T5JSShow this thread1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -

Oh cool! I’m a very visual person when it comes to rules.

Usually I take tons of notes on a pad but since I'm home I started taking them on a doc that is now morphing into a rulebook. I found that approach of starting from a "screenshot" really helpful to see the scope of the game and count how many components it will need.
