Today's my 8th freelanceversary. I left FFG on Oct. 15th, 2012 and while it's rough and unstable at times, I've never been happier than as my own boss. The next twelve months should see some big stuff from me, including Stuff of Legend and Batman the Animated Series game.

Stygian Society has just hit stores, Bacon!!!: the card game is off to the printer, and the first Mistborn expansion should be shipping soon, I believe. And that's just the stuff I can talk about so far.

That being said, it's been a challenging year, what with...<gestures to the world>. My playtesting is at a standstill for the moment, and I still really haven't gotten the hang of selling finished designs to publishers. Most of my income continues to be contract work.

I dearly missed the Gathering of Friends this year, and living alone during lockdown has been a particular kind of stress. But, I recently had a big gig sent my way by an industry friend that is stabilizing me for the near future, so that's a load off for awhile.

Bindlestiff has been therapeutic for me to design. Taking up drawing again after many years has been a welcome distraction, and writing for it has helped me work through some of my lockdown feelings. I'm not entirely sure when it'll get finished, but I keep working on it in bits.

Moving forward, I'm hoping to get some TTS playtesting going, sell a few more games from my backstock, do some more drawing, and ideally knock this big gig out of the park. Aside from that? Who knows? It doesn't pay to plan TOO far ahead.
