I feel inspired to revisit this prototype from 2013 because the theme still makes me laugh. At the time I got stuck with the mechanics, I'll probably start from scratch.pic.twitter.com/4P5SA0yUHG

I love this. What are ppl doing you try to predict? Something in the game or more freeform/outside the game?
Most of it is about the game, which makes this tricky to design because it is a game inside another. I also added some "fourth wall breaking" predictions were funny the first time but the players become hyper aware in future sessions.
I'm really intrigued by this idea. I hope it works out. How far in the future are they trying to predict? I'm guessing it feels a lot like betting if it's closer in time?
In that prototype you could predict things that would happen in the next turn for a few points, or later things for many more. Up to the end of the game, including who would win.
That makes sense. So much room for meta thinking. It sounds like it could turn out great. But also presents some big headaches for you as a designer.
It is very tricky. I got stuck early on and haven't touched it since but still like the idea. I'm now trying to sketch a central game that is not too complex but has some mid and long term goals to predict things about. Then a system for the predictions.
I can see that as an approach. I was thinking limiting who each player is trying to predict, e.g. only predicting your neighbours or secretly get dealt another player.
In the current pandemic I'll first try to make something that works with just two so I can playtest it at home. :)
