One reason I think a lot of hobby content creators burn out is down to expectations of growth/popularity based on more mainstream accounts. Hobby spaces are niche, and your appeal within that likely even more so. But for those who find you, it's exactly what they're looking for.

I agree. Another big one that can stunt their growth and limit followers is that not everyone cares about every new game that comes out. Even if their content is super well produced, they won't watch/read if they don't want to know about it.

There are a rare few that are so entertaining that I'll watch/read almost despite the game but I could count them on one hand.

Being that entertaining is a rare talent and most of us need to be talking about something your interested in to have a chance of keeping your interest.

That said, streams where the host is talking to the chat make it nice for me to join even if I don't know/care about the game. There's even a chance I like the game in the end. :)
