I would like to revisit a game that flopped and see how it holds up through todays eyes. Any games come to mind? Something still available if possible.

I've never heard anyone talk about Fool's Gold but I've had fun with it, and it has beautiful art by

Also Transatlantic seemed to suffer from constant comparisons to Concordia. It does have some production issues with colors and iconography but the gameplay is solid. https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/163805/transatlantic …pic.twitter.com/Qclg8CjuQb

There's definitely Concordia DNA in there, but without the spatial game or the cards acting as VP it's a fairly different game. I felt like the theme didn't successfully translate, which is a shame, because I like the theme! I have not yet played Mac's 2020 variant!

Thank you, I didn't know about this variant! I should check it out. I did hear about a new edition of the rulebook that was supposed to be in the works but I don't think it ever came out.

There was one that
@GamingRulesVids did back when the game was released but I don't think it ever saw the light of day. Paul can maybe confirm. This 2020 one is by Mac himself and changes the game a bit.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

A long story indeed. Put loads of unpaid hours into doing a new rulebook to fix all the issues and nothing got done with it :(

That's a shame. Is there anything preventing you from releasing it to BGG as an unofficial rulebook? Obviously you wouldn't want to step on any toes, but I'm sure I've seen third party rule rewrites for games before on BGG.

Nooooo This is the worst possible scenario for everyone involved.

Is it? We see redesigned player aids, cheat sheets, and even rulebooks for games regularly. ...granted, they usually aren't from a professional rulebook editor.

I was just answering Paul there, didn't want to split the thread in two. I wouldn't mind getting the rules from BGG but it's not fair that Paul didn't get paid for his work on them.

Got it - I misunderstood who you were replying to. Yeah, Paul kind of did it of his own accord I believe. It was meant to be a "freebie", but it just never went anywhere - which is terribly frustrating. At least that's my understanding.

Lol. Funny misordering of threads there. This has cropped up a couple of times in the past couple of years and let a bad taste in my mouth. To the point where the publisher was actually directing people to me about it.
