Honestly, there's something I don't like about the original line, "What's your score? Lowest wins.". I might be overly sensitive, but it seems to place undue merit upon BGG ratings. I used to be all about trying to play everything in the top 100. And whilst that was a fine way to learn about modern boardgames, I soon discovered that it's very specific to one style of game. These games are great, don't get me wrong. But BGG is not all the BG audience.

The main reason that this line irks me is that it places too much emphasis on ownership. If you buy these things you are 'winning' more. This line feels like it's symptomatic of consumerism for the sake of status rather than enjoying the things themselves in a healthier way.

Yeah, when I posted mine I made a comment about that too. The hotness is just a measure of popularity, not quality, and it's natural if it does not match your tastes.
