Is discussing without agreeing but pretending to agree a very Swedish thing, or is it common elsewhere too?

It is tiring to do! Sitting next to someone who clearly disagrees with you and when you try to state your point, this arguing technique is nodding and then say “yes I know, it’s like...” and saying something that first sounds like agreeing and then flipping it to not be. Weird!
