It looks right up my alley but I have so many games already!

Do you like Slay The Spire or Griftlands? This 100% scratches that "engine/deck building" feel, except the cycle is more meta - you get stronger every run after you die. Also, the voice acting is top notch!

I love roguelikes/roguelites and frequently go back to them. Slay the Spire seems well designed but I find it hard to enjoy because I burned out on a project that was too similar (before it came out), haven't tried Griftlands.

But I have been looking at a game of this type to play on a tablet/switch when I'm hanging out with my partner and we're talking or watching videos. Preferably turnbased so I don't have to focus on it too much. StS doesn't even run on my tablet. :/

If you want turn-based on Switch, I'd suggest Into The Breach (StS is also on Switch)!

Excellent choice, I was playing it so much when my controllers started drifting. I had to stop using the console for months and I didn't go back. Remarkable design on that one.

If you want something full-blown turn-based with story and all, Fire Emblem Three Houses is one of the best games I've played in years, but it'll want your attention in between the combat half of the game.
@ithayla will quickly remind you that XCOM is also now on Switch.1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -
I am working on a tactical game at the moment so I've also been playing all kinds of those. Xcom is a big reference. :)

What I wanted was more of a game where I could go on a run that ends in permadeath, so I could leave nothing hanging from one session to the next.

the thing about hades for that is each 'room' is 2-5 minutes, kind of like slay the spire.

It does look like my jam, I've played at least 100 hours of Binding of Isaac while listening to podcasts but first I'll probably try Enter the Gungeon since it seems to scratch a similar itch and it was free on Epic a while ago.

not a bad idea, it's similar to hades. i prefer hades aesthetic (and story!) but it has that similar feeling
