Random thought and question - are there boardgames that use actual photos than illustrated artwork? 
I think the main problem is that the images can end up looking very disconnected from the game. Some may call it lazy but I imagine it's more a question of the license owner or the actors wanting to control how they're portrayed.

Conversely, a historical game like Watergate uses carefully selected photos to pretty good effect.

Ah. Yeah, that is a challenge. I was thinking more in terms of taking photos specifically used for in a game. Like it a game about...postcards perhaps?
